Over the past month we have temporalily adopted a dog called grumpy,(he is far from that) his previous family were unable to look after him anymore and we were not gonna let them send him to the pound, so we have been searching for a good home for him. finally today we have found a lovely family on a property that have taken him in, it was so sad to say goodbye to him, and i will miss him dearly. :(

Zac and i have been very bored while we have been waiting for the season to start, so we decided to take on a challenge of a 1000 piece puzzle, we managed to complete this one within 4 days, puzzles are definatly a great way to pass time.

Emma. This photo was shot in one of the most untouched regions on schindler, just a short hike above the ski runs, Austria is renowed for its powder skiing due to the fact most 'schussers' stick to the ski routes. Slightly after this a small slide followed me down to the run.

Merimbula

The past week has been filled with some much needed Rest and Relaxation (Not!) haha, A few days after arriving home to Jindabyne we took a scenic trip to zacs home to visit his mum. Merimbula is the most beautiful place, and sometimes we really take it for granted. No matter where i travel and what i see nothing will beat the beauty that merimbula and its surrounds have to offer. (plus the fact this place holds so many memories) Travelling down zac and i passed through some very dry and dusty plains, we felt complety alone, not a car nor person in sight, and for some reason it just seemed really beautiful.

Once we hit the coastline we could tell, the smell of salt in the air, it is one of those great sensory pleasures you admire, Along with the feeling of sand between your toes! A visit to the beach put a big smile on our faces. Followed by a gorgeous sunset!

A picnic at Haycock point put the icing on the cake, where we ate fresh rolls and watermelon up on the cliff top and watched the dolphins travel out to sea. Amazing!

I think i'm going to keep this blog going throughout the Aussie winter season, so stay tuned for more adventures of zac and emma!

So the holiday is finally over, St Anton this time round was truly unforgettable.

Good partys, Amazing skiing and Great friends.

Our jouney home was quite eventful. We had a pleasent train ride through the rolling green grass fields and towering mountains.

Just as we were to about say our final 'Auf Wiedersehen" to Europe, the police had something different on thier minds. As we came to the front of the line of passport control in Zurich airport, we were escorted to the nearest interview room (border security channel 7 style) as we had overstayed our welcome by 63 days. The Police explained to us that the laws have changed since our last visit and we are not allowed to stay in western europe for more than 90 days without the appropriate visas. We filled out a few forms and were told that a judge will decide our fate, a fine of 550 swiss francs, with a possibility that we will be banned from entering any european union country, for a period of unknown time. Fingers crossed they are lenient.

This is me with our court order. not happy jan!

We made our plane with only 10 minutes to spare. Very very lucky. The first leg of the plane trip was grueling, as a sumo behind us did not stop snoring the whole way!

We brought some sleeping pills to drown out the snoring. and woke up to a beautiful sunrise

After arriving in sydney airport we finally hooked into our sausage roll, meat pie and vitamin water.

A 3 hour bus, 2 hour car ride later we arrived home, greeted by mum waititng to serve up her famous homemade lasange, and my crazy sausage dog, who was so excited to see us, she peed herself numerous times.

We fell asleep around 7.30 pm, in our own comfy bed, much better than the spring loaded one we had, back in St Anton.

Absolutly love being home there is definatly nothing like it!

Had a lovely relaxing walk into town today, saw some horses and a cute baby horse.

Brought some bread and good austrian cheese, sat by the lake, ate the bread, and chewed on my tooth. a quick trip to the dentist, and it was fixed within the hour. gotta love the austrian dental and hospital care. so damn quick.

Its been super nice just relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet. Im pretty sure we are the only season people left in the town.

Last Days

So as we say our final goodbyes to st anton we look back on our season in numbers

Days skiing : approxiamatly 125 days

Bus riding: 400 times riding in and out on a 15 min bus which equals to 4.166 days

Money spent on food: $880 aussie dollars each

Time getting home:

A 2.5 hour train to zurich, A 3 hour wait in zurich, A 14 hour plane to seoul, A 3 hour Stopover, A 12 hour plane to Sydney, then a 3 hour wait then a 3 hour bus then a 2 hour drive home with mum

= 42.5 hours of straight travelling 2 days ! Thats alot of travelling!

The past weekend was filled with fun and laughter, Andi Zac and I ventured up for one last ski on the slush filled mountain.

i thought it would be a great idea to wear jeans for the day, but turns out it wasnt the smartest idea, as when the snow would hit my legs, it would soak either into my jeans or go down into my boots. by the end of the day my boots were drowned in water.

That night we headed into town to watch the most famous ski race in st anton. 'THE WIESSE RAUCH' which means the white thrill. Its kinda like the 'dash for cash' in perisher but waay gnarlier. Racers have to start on the highest point and race, climb, struggle, down the mogul filled ungroomed piste approx 4km at full speed, towards the end they climb through a big snow obstacle. This one guy did it in 7 mins.

Even later that night we partied for one last time at the funky (smokey) chicken. The one thing i wont miss here is the dirty cigarrette smoke getting blown in your face everywhere you walk. Smoking is still allowed inside bars here. In turn we come out smelling like an ashtray.

Zac found this pretty daffodil for me.

And thomas found a frog, then proceeded to put it down andis back. yuck!

So as you have heard in previous blogs, the smell of cow poop is common in these parts of the woods. however the past 2 days have been excruciatingly painfully smelly. we cant even open our windows of our apartment due to the fact the smell will stain our skin and clothes. Im pretty sure it is because the poo has been sprayed all over the grass.

Just thought i would show you some of the animals that live in our house. the squirrel is scary.

Zac and i only have 2 days to go until we leave. I am very excited to be getting home. I have already ordered a homecooked lasagne for our arrival at mums house.

Kaunertal Gletscher

Our park has been closed in st anton so for something different we took the long winding road to kaunertal , a glacier that has a park that stays open all year round. here is a few pics of things we saw along the way. Unfortunatly my camera died once we got up to the glacier so no pics of that.

We stopped at a drive through backery (which i thought was funny)
the Journey took around 1 hour, along a very windy one laned road, around a massive dam. The road had only recently had a massive avalanche fall over it pretty crazy.

Saw this castle perched right on the top of this hill. there is actually quite a few of these perched around the highest mountain tops, makes me wonder how the hell they all got up there!

The park was perfectly shaped and super long. tonnes o fun! The drive down was not so fun. once we reached the base town we were greeted by a long long lonnnnnnggggg line of traffic. we waited an hour maybe more with out moving. turns out there was a massive rock slide onto the road and took a while to clean up. This is what waiting in traffic for a long time does to you.

This volcano buisness is the most craziest thing. Pretty much every airport in Europe has been shut down today, and after what i have read this may continue on into the week. Zac and i are due to leave next Thursday so we should be pretty safe to get home unless this ash just keeps on pouring out! This incedent has really made me think, the world goes crazy without planes! we depend so much on this form of transport. think of all the holiday plans ruined and important things people have to get to,(like a groom trying to get to his wedding!) Laura (my sister) is stuck in sweden at the moment, im sure her bookings and travel plans have all been stuffed up too. Our friends jeremy and tori are stuck in london. they were to be travelling around europe but trains are booked out and and im sure car hire places are too! they had pre booked rooms and everything and it is all non refundable. Most Travel insurance companys arent covering this chaos as it is a natural disaster.

France has shut the three airports in the Paris area and others in the north of the country until 8am (4pm AEST) on Monday due to the ash cloud that has caused the biggest airspace shutdown since World War II.

The International Air Transport Association meanwhile has warned of the economic fallout from the volcano eruption in southeast Iceland.

According to their figures it's costing airlines more than $US200 million ($A214.04 million) a day.

splish splash

Splish Splash and im takin a bath, in everyone else feet juice and alcohol!

The infamous Scottys bar beach party on the 12th April, was the most wildest and craziest wettest night i have ever experienced. Little Baby pools were filled with water, there were lilos, beach balls and inflatable rings floating around.

Everyone had dressed for the occasion, wetsuits, sunnies, swimmers, boardies, zinc, flip flops, and swimming caps. here is a photo of Timmo's Homemade Pluggas, made out of sticky tape and beer carton. i can assure you they didnt last long at all.

Scottys had prepared for a messy watery night as all the art had been glad wrapped along with the light fittings and electricity holes.

Everything seemed quite civilised until the water fights broke out, people carrying whole pools of water pouring it onto anyone who would walk by, water gun fights, and puddle stomping was a favorite, before we knew it the whole bars floor was covered in at least 3cm of water. I was like a little pig in mud, or should i say a little kid in water, jumping around splashing everyone and getting saturated at the same time.

I was a smart girl and wore my goggles so i didnt get any chlorine in my eyes. it was much easier to breastroke through the crowd too.

The floor had become a mixture of filthy brown water, i think it was a mixture of everyones dirty feet and alcohol. Im sure some festy foot fungal disease will arise out of this. Im not sure if u can see but in the end pool is the brown water.

As the night drew to an end we walked outside, our clothes were drenched, and it was BLOODY Freezing. Zac and i both shivering like a chiwawa we caught a taxi home instead of taking the long 40min walk in our frozen stiff shorts tshirt and flip flops.

Yet another hot and sunny day in St anton. Zac and i decided to go find some things to take photos of. We were looking for a wallride which we thought was up the top of this giant hill, so the hiking began,

It was a hard hike as the snow was soft and we kept falling through.

once we were halfway up we relised this was not the right wallride, we looked down and there it was right at the bottom of the hill. but we kept on hiking to the top where a feeling of satisfaction set upon us as we conquered our greatest fear 'exercise'!!! . we were stuffed so we sat down relaxed and had a bite to eat.

The sun was very harsh today, i could feel myself burning up, i tried to cover up however we still managed to get severlely burnt under my chin and forarms (hence the title redskin) this was obviously caused by the refelection of the sun on the snow. i am in pain. and too poor to buy sunscreen/aloe vera haha.

We made it to the wallride and hit it a few times only to be dissapointed by the fact that our camera battery had died.

We are heading back there tomorrow to try again.

Well what a surprise it was when we woke up this morning, a snowfall of a good 1m had fallen overnight. Andi, Zac and I headed straight to our favorite run 'jungbondobel' it is an area where not many if any people head down. you can choose between so many differernt lines, from big open fields to cornices to tree runs, it has it all, and always has the deepest pow on the mountain. we got alot of filming in today, getting some of the most epic face shots i have ever had! i cant believe how much it snowed considering it is supposed to be springtime! ah! so happy! here is some shots if you can see us haha.

Arose this morning to the sound of quacking ducks,, i look outside surprised to see 2 little naughty fugative wood ducks roaming and patrolling the streets of st jakob, no one could catch them. even zacs try failed. So even now they are out quacking away,, im thinking of calling the duck police to issue them with a noise complaint.

Here in St anton im pretty sure religion is instilled into the community, the reason i say this is that there are many of these little mini churches/pray places plotted along the road into town, complete with candles lit every day, 2 pews paintings and sculptures. zac and i opened the door to one yesterday and this is what we saw.

Retail Therapy + Catch up blooog

So after forking out a whopping $1400 last week, i finnally recieved my new best friend, My Apple Macbook laptop. its the best laptop in the world. thats all i gotta say about it.

So it has been a super fun week, here is a little bit of catch up in photos. enjoy

Zac and i hit this wallride near the train tunnel, we had about 4 cars of authority (train people etc) drive past they didnt care, they were happy to watch and cheer us on.

Then zac thomas and i built this rock jump.

Spring time riding in the slush is the best. i have been learning so many new tricks, so im super dooper happy!

I found my best friend waiting there all alone to be sipped out of........i just couldnt reach the cork. damn

Travelled to innsbruck doin the locomotion (travelling by train) today, with zac and christl holding my hand. it was great to get out of the ski resort bubble. innsbruck in the coolest mountain city out, no matter where you move in innsbruck majestic snow capped mountains dominate your view, the narrow cobblestone streets and the medieval buildings are so pretty! i needed some new clothes so headed to the mall to do some retail therapy, H & M was one of my favourites, with shirts and trakkies under 10 euro, i kinda went a little crazy.

Lots of clothes...oops we havent had fast food for a while now, we needed our fix.

Thomas's Birthday

It was the eve of Thomas birthday so we all decided to go out and celebrate, after quite a few beers and shots of jagermeister we headed to the kandahar bar (a middle eastern themed nightclub) The night was only just beginning around 1am, when zac and thomas wanted to steal some guys champage off thier V.I.P table, (moet chandon 89 euros a bottle) Thier great plan was to get us (annika and myself) to distract the men by talking to them while thomas snuck around to pinch it from behind, however this was unneeded, turns out the guys really liked talking to us and they were pretty nice, and gave us some champagne. I started to figure they were pretty rich after our conversations, one man had said to me 'it was really nice talking to you girls, most girls are just after my money' , we both said in our heads, yes and we are both after your alchohol mwa hahahaa. After about 2am they left the bar giving us thier VIP booth complete with an entry chain, 2 bottles of Moet and a full bottle of vodka. It was going to be one messy night.
4.30 am: came around too quickly and club closed down kicking us onto the streets of a sombre st anton morning.
5am: thomas decided to play with his new present, a long board skate board, giving us all a go, we skated the streets till 5.30 when we saw the bakery car dropping bread off to hotels, we realised it was getting late or early?
5.30am:proceeded to watch lords of dogtown after skating.
5.45 fell asleep.
9am woke up to catch the bus home, looking wrecked and still drunk from the night befores festivitys with our giant bottle of jager in hand and alcohol stained clothing. haha
3pm arise from coma

Sunday night we all went out for dinner at our favourite pizza place 'Platzl', to celebrate his birthday again, it was to be a chilled night after still feeling the effects from a few hours before. However Thomas had different plans, bringing out shot after shot of everything ranging from tequlia to slippery nipples, jager to flugels. The pizza was very delicious, after that we all spread out on the giant couches rubbing our bellys in pain, we had eaten too much!

you will be pleased to know mother that we arrived safely home around 11.30 and tucked myself into bed to nurture my flu. no more drinking for a few weeks now.....

Another great day skiing, zac thomas and i built a kicker, and with temperatures rising to around 8 degrees up top, this meant red faces today goggle tans tomoro.

Happy St Partricks day all you little leprachauns, the irish luck was with us today with blue sky and fresh pow. The Arlberg is the place to be, we saw 4 big name film crews fliming today, snowboarders were spinning big over cliffs and skiers were stomping double corks into pow. Us on the other hand (a small no name film crew) were busy filming some nice powder shots,cliffs and Andi Herbst crashing into trees. but you will have to wait to see the footage when i get my new computer next monday. I'm off to have some beers for St. Patty.

So ive been sick for a good three weeks now, mainly a nagging cough that keeps me awake all night long.(must be all that passive smoking from the euros) pretty much everytime it starts to get better, the next day its twice as bad. but i got some drugs now (crack's really cheap in austria)and am feeling a little better. Good enough to ski pow all day anyway!
After a crazy snowstorm swept into the arlberg last night, the mountain was coated in some nice deep fluffy icing. Zac and i rose up early to claim first lifts and first runs down an amazing long powder filled valley. before we were to drop into zacs favourite spot, This one guy was talking to us like we were beginners, 'do you know whats down there, do you even know where you are going!''its real dangerous down there' and zac replys 'danger is my middle name', haha, snow was sliding but it wasnt that dangerous, after i dropped in a bit of sluff followed after me, i hear from this idiot 'avalance slide slide, get out the way' yelling at the top of his lungs, it only covered my toes haha.

was pretty stoked with the days efforts, each run took around 40 mins so our legs were burning by the end of it. i managed to do the sweetest double ski eject front flip to feet when i hit a windlip i couldnt see, claiming the best crash afterbang of the day.
Not much of the mountain opened up today due to some gnarly winds and bad visibility, but im sure tomorow some one is gonna die. There is this one notorious spot and without fail every year a number of stupid swedish will venture down there with no gear and get buried its sad but true, you gotta be wise.

On another sad note, my laptop is kaputt. it fell 1m to the ground with the screen open and smashed the screen. so i just purchased a new macbook,(geez credit cards are amazing things)

we can not live without a computer, we have 1 austrian tv channel and thats it, so if we didnt have a computer to watch movies on we would be super dooper bored, tori our aussie friend has lent us her computer till mine arrives on monday! cant wait!

I arrive at my front door today and was greeted by 2 packages, one from my mummy, and the other from my sis amy. these were the contents inside

i love my vegimite and mint slices but more than that we love our nerds, a giant packet which contains 9 Tbsp of sugar has almost dissapeared in 24hrs. i will arrive home toothless.

After arriving back from laax we slept pretty much the whole day, preparing ourselves for a big day of skiing pow in stuben. However.......the snow was sooooo windblown in stuben we were pretty much skiing on sheet ice the whole way down. so we decided to scope out some other places, including this little line on schindler that i finally worked up the guts to do, then a little bit started to slide underneath my feet. i shat myself, tried to stop, got into a backwards snowplough then got one ski jammed into the mountain and the other twisted the wrong way. the slope was pretty steep and here i am freakin out trying to get out of this wacky position i was in then for some stupid girly reason i started bawling my eyes out, so stupid. i finally got out of it and this is what i skied, it was pretty cool.

This is a photo of zac walking home from doing our weekly shop. we take our backpacks and stuff it full of food and then have to hike up a hill and walk home. Pretty strenuous exercise!i dont think i would ever walk home with that much shopping in jindabyne thats for sure! its amazing what you do with out a car! Every week we get 7 big meals plus loads of snacks for only 25 euros each, so cheap!

European open

After waking up at 5.30 in the morning to catch a train to chur then a bus to laax we finally arrived at our destination, LAAX. Home of the European Freeski open. Luckily enough we ran into laura and russ right away. Russ had told us the Event may have to be cancelled due to bad weather. This was highly dissapointing as we had come all this way to cheer on our fellow australian and to watch the best compete against one another, forever pushin thier limits. But that was ok there was still 2 days we had here and we wernt going to waste a second of it. so we brought our lift tickets and rode the park for a few hours.

The mountain is pretty massive. and the park highly impressive! the foul weather and poor visibility had finally pushed us to call it a day around 2pm.

To replace the slope-style event, a rail jam was organised down in the village, so we did get to see russ slide a stairset for an hour. it was cool to see all the good rail riders stomping thier tricks.

We then spotted our friend Balmer, he was definatly suited up and ready to party. Balmer manns the 'banana bar' a free service providing riders and spectators as many drinks as they want, and the best part, its all free. (this is funded by Line skis) Balmer was dressed as a bananaand A shopping trolly was his bar, pushing around from place to place offering a nice cold beer to anyone who would partake.

As we sat at the Volkl truck on the comfy beanbags drinking ice cold beer i admired what an amazing life laura and russ have been living over the past few months, sure russ definaltly works hard for this, but wow it really is a great life! fancy hotels, free stuff, free grog, free food and partys! of course alot of money does also go into getting there and accomodation. i definatly admire thier lifestyle. on the other hand, seeing russ pack his bags made me think it would kinda suck living out of a suitcase, and lots of travelling but that aside i wouldnt complain!

That night russ invited us to a 'dalbello' riders dinner, where dalbello was paying for all, this was great to take advantage of the amazing expensive aisian dishes on offer. i got the chicken fried rice, kinda boring but was the best fried rice i have had, zac got the hoi sin duck, an impeccable choice! ha. after that it was time for drinking! a few norwegian guys joined us in the apartment and an amazing drinking game was played, its a simple game and called the 'finger game' you pretty much just have to guess how many fingers will be on the cup after counting to 3. i was definatly the sore loser in this game, copping about 6 beers to skull. this would lead to a pretty drunken night.

This drinking game then became famous throughout the whole bar, everyone wanted to play our game, i wont go into the details of the rest of the night, but lets just say we made a concrete floor seem comfortable by the end of the night!

The next day the halfpipe competition was cancelled as well, the weather was even worse, we did one run and bailed to our cosy apartment to have a steam sauna. shaping up for the nights festivities. which started off going to a great italian restaurant, an amazing lasagne,

lots of jager shots and beer. we ventured to the riders palace to PARTY!!!! Russ had hooked us up with free entry to the underground nightclub where a band called hockey were playing. although the dj was the favourite of the night.

There was tonnes of people there. and the beer and spirits were ridiculously expensive,(15 chf for 1 vodka lemonade) so we scoped out our only option, scott hibberd, a crazy canadian who we had met the night before who brings a bag of vodka and lemonade in and gives to everyone for free! all i remember is tonnes of dancing, moshing, more free beer thanks to russ and getting lots of drinks spilt all over me.

We finally made it home around 4.30, we could have just kept on dancing till the early hours but we had a train to catch in the morning.

after getting only a mere 2.5 hrs sleep we dragged ourselves out of bed to head to the nearest bus terminal. after waiting for a good 10 mins after the scheduled time of departure, a man comes up and tells us the bus doesnt pick up here on sundays and told us we must head 1km down the road, we bolted for the bus stop, trudging through snow and dragging our ski heavy ski bag. this was not what we needed, lucky enough the bus was running late so we made it just in time. it was a pleasent train ride back, slowly winding through all the snow covered towns towered over by huuugge mountains

you really never get sick of how beautiful these mountains really are. A 2hr journey later we were back to our home St Anton, turns out it dumped snow here too and we now have a foot in town, pretty impressive.

All in all an absolutly amazing weekend! i dont care if the event was cancelled! we had the best time and got soooo spoilt! i got to see my sis which was awesome because i missed her alot.

they are both so much fun. Thanks Russ for helping us out, much appreciated!

i am now off to sleep off this horrible hangover. Ouch my head hurts!!

i was getting very sick of working 6 days a week, at the 'landhaus murr' so i have quit my job, well kinda. i found it pretty hard to tell my boss the bad news that i had to leave this week, first off the main chambermaid fell over and broke her knee, so i have had to cover her shifts, working heaps and then my boss gives me a 15 euro tip (for working so hard) just as i was about to tell her i quit, so i have done the cowardly thing and just wrote her a text message telling her that i have left st anton, haha im so bad, not sure if she got it though, i guess i will see in the morning when i get a phone call from her saying 'why aren't you coming into work' , i was told countlessly by zac to tell the truth and do it face to face, but i am not one for confrontation and to see the look on the poor old ladys face if i told her i probably would have just said oh ok ill work another few weeks, but i dont wanna do that, i wanna travel around and stuff so tuff luck i guess.

i made sure i got paid before i quit so i got 650 euros!! woo hoo for a whole months work, shit money over here, thats like 250 aus dollars a week.

Zac and i are heading to a resort in switzerland this weekend, to see my little sis laura and watch russ in the slopestyle competition in Laax, fingers crossed we are his good luck charm and he wins!

Russ and Laura are letting us crash on thier floor which we are so grateful for as we couldnt find any cheap accom anywhere, all we have to bring is a few doonas and pillows for ourselves which will fit nicely in our ski bags. easy done. thanks heaps guys!

Last saturday a local store and volcom put on a party (Volcom Sausage fest) free snags and beer. Since rumors of free beer travels faster than the speed of light in a ski town, every single member of the local poor community were punctually banging on the shops door, at least an hour before kick off,If you've ever spent some time in a mountain resort without your head buried under the snow, then you're aware of the fact that free beer and free food is as essential for survival in the snow as water and shelter from the sun is in the desert. the swedish defininatly live by this saying. when ever we go to the supermarket all we see them buy is pasta, tomato sauce and cases upon cases of the cheapest beer you can find, once on the shelves i can assure you that it will be gone within the hour. anyways as you can see i also took advantage of the free beer, (2 in my pocket one in my hand) it was a great night.

This week we visited one of the most famous apres ski bars in st anton "mooserwirt', its a 2 layered discoteque with horrible music and loads of drunk people .pretty funny to see. the DJ is a 50 year old man.

This is my favourite tree. it is so damn pretty at night, all lit up. i love it.

I have been working a heap still, mostly only in the mornings but on saturdays and sundays it has been full days. this is due to the fact that the main cleaner tripped on the vaccuum cleaner on monday and smashed her knee cap. ouch. i got a 10 euro tip the other day, (i think cause thier kid pissed the bed) i was pretty happy as that is like an hours work for me!

The dreaded flu has struck me once again this week, thats twice now in 3 weeks. its so shit.

This is a photo of our backyard, these horses come out every day, each one of them have thier own unique hair style, be it crimped plaited straight, they look so beautiful against the mountain backdrop. maybe its the hair or just me but i think this has a slight resemblance to my elder/best most darling sister amy. Haha. Amy is the greatest she is sending zac and i a packet of nerds each (these are our favourite lollies ever).

There is so many animals here in St anton, they all hide in their barns over winter, we may not be able to see them but we can sure smell them, every day we get a good wafting of stench up our noses, its a terrible smell. but we are now starting to get used to it.

The poo truck comes past every week to get rid of the poo piles in the barns, this is then dumped somewhere else. maybe in thier gardens or on the grass to make it nice and green in summer. Yesterday i got to feed the sheep at the place i work at, (they own the butchery) so these poor little sheepys will get slaughtered soon enough. The butchers here are so 'cliche' Big fat guys named Gunter and Gottfried holding knives and covered in blood..This is seriously what gunter looks like.

i have to eat lunch with them everyday, but none of them speak any english so its an awkward silent lunch. Lunch is the main meal of the day here, its like what we eat for dinner, i get fed every day i work, like chicken wrapped in bacon with potatos and saurkraut and salad. absolutly huge meals. breakfast is also pretty strange, i dont think i could eat meats for breaky i know we sometimes eat bacon, but ham and salami and fresh bread is too much.

I have finally run out of my favourite breaky treat! VEGIMITE!! mum if you are reading this PLLLEEEEAAASSSE send some over!

Last Friday we travelled to Nordpark (a resort just above the city of innsbruck) and did a little bit of night skiing.

Zac and Andy built 2 sweet kickers over saturday and sunday. This was then followed by some very messy and crazy 'Apres Ski' at the Krazy Kangaruh. This was our first time here and i can tell you now, it definatly steps up to its reputation. Plenty of beers later we were skiing down the mountain in pitch black ready for bed (8pm) haha.

As you have been reading week after week, we have been having the time of our lives, pretty much living the good life. we are absolutly loving it over here. we are already half way through our 'holiday' and cant wait to see what the next half is going to bring us. anyway this is what we have been up to the past week.

The Pizzas at "pizza pomodoro" are some of the best pizzas i have had, where the saying comes in 'less is more' the less toppings the more tasty. the other night a group of us went for pizza and beers, a great combination especially infront of an open fire and on a big comfy couch. this is a photo of us so full we couldnt move after all the pizza.

last tuesday zac was lucky enough to have the oppotunity to ride the next years Atomic bentchetler with chris benchetler and fellow aussie christian sirrianni. along with a small group of locals. A Party was thrown for chris by Atomic that night, and free drinks all round for zac and the other riders. Long Island ice teas the special. need i say more.

zac worked for the 2nd time this season handing out rodels(sleds) to people from 7pm till 10pm and got 50 euros! This is quite a dangerous job as the rodels metal edges are extremely sharp however 330 rodels later he only sustained one cut.

My friend Christl got a lovely care package from her mum the other day full of handy foods and lollies. it just goes to prove that mums really do care and worry bout thier daughters wellbeing, my mum always gives me big care packages at home, even though we just live round the corner. it is greatly appreciated.

Annika, Zac and I went dog walking her boyfriends dog 'sunny' when it was dumping snow, it made me miss my little maddy dog. planning on going to the alpine zoo in innsbruck next week, i reckon it will be cool to see some of the native animals that live here, and i also reallt wanna see a moose.

here is a photo of the bed and breakfast that i work at, its one of the older dwellings in st anton, its an amazing place, like a maze, and lots of dead animals hanging up everywhere. pretty creepy. well thats all for now!

zac and i have seen a few disturbing things latley. first zac sees a guy paralyze himself on a jump, then we see a guy snap his leg in half on a jump, then yesterday we were about to board the gondola and an older man in his 50's drops dead from a heart attack all right infront of us, im beginning to think we are bad luck! watching the heart attack guy was pretty sad and disturbing, a man jumped in and repeated CPR till the ambulance arrived, his wife was distraught to say the least, there was nothing she could do. Also we have heard there has been 11 deaths over the last week in the arlberg, most of those deaths caused by avalanches. (2 young 16 year olds and a ski instructor) you know when something is bad when the police chopper gets flown in. but dont worry mums and dads, zac and i have spent alot of money on safety gear and have common sense. most of these people were in the wrong place without the right equipment.

Today zac was invited to ski alongside chris benchetler and a few other good riders, he had an awesome day riding pow on next years skis the "bentchetler". They were provided with a mountain guide to show them some secret spots, but on the first groomed run his avalanche air bag inflated by accident, they were heading to zurs but couldnt catch the bus as the guides bag wouldnt fit in the crowded bus as it was still yet to be deflated, so a taxi was called, While skiing down a nice pow run, zac and andi were greeted by a surprise, a mountain goat, jumping along side of them. i am so jealous i wasnt there to see it, i am always on the lookout for wildlife, as there is always tracks in the snow but i can never find the elusive animals!! pretty happy to know that they are there.

this week i have been pretty busy once again working, cleaning and doing dishes, i have told my boss though that i cant work that much any more, and only want 3 days a week as i have been missing out on so much skiing which is what i have payed all this money to come here for.

it has been snowing pretty much every night where zac has been greeted with endless powder to ride every day, unfortunatly i happened to be working. but i was lucky enough to have today off where it has snowed the hardest i have ever seen, cars were covered, lifts were closed and the weather was atrocious, a real snow storm. but we still got out there and rode what was open. its super dangerous here at the moment, alot of avalanches, a ski instructor died yesterday in one, and a few buried, here is a little video of me and zac from today.

Just another day in paradise.

What a way to celebrate aus day, beers bbq and skiing. a big crew of about 30 people built the sweetest set up of bike jumps car bonks and log jibs out the back of our house and put on a bbq of steak and snags which was amazing! After that we headed to the fang house bar, where we met some interesting aussies, where the saying its a small world came into play. i met an old man that stays in jindabyne for 3 weeks every year and knew my mum from the caravan park, he was super cute, he was dancing and everything, so cute.we met a bunch of guys that knew a few of our friends back home, and then in walks some other people we know from jindy.

As i pulled out my boris jelzin vodka, (ex prime minister of russia) nostrovia became the word of the night, meaning cheers in russian (we think)

It was also a night to celebrate the budget conscious ski bum, buy one beer, drink it and fill it up with your own brought in canned beer for the rest of the night, a great way to save money considering a can over here costs 45cents and a beer in a pub a whopping 4 euro thus saving us a shitlload of money haha.

After a long night of drinking beers and shots the night came to an end when we could barely stand, we decided to fork out the 3.50 euro to catch the bus home, then tried to unlock the door and the key to our house snapped inside the key hole. which now means we gotta spend 100 euro to get a new key (thats how much it cost me last time when i lost it cause its a special laser one)

So all in all australia day was full of fun, but i think i might change my name to budda, chocolate here is only 39 cents a block and the beer is making my belly big an fat hahah.

I have been working a heap the past 2 weeks, like nearly every morning from 8.30 till 1.00 pretty exhausting work, so havent been out skiing much at all, hopefully the work will die down soon so i can ski more, after all thats what i came here for.

Nintendo Wii is amazing

i am cinderella

I clean units every saturday for a bit of extra cash, about 60 euros for the day, its easy work and all, plus i get heaps of leftover food and washing powder etc, i do like it however today i felt like a real cinderella, picture this, me on the stairs with a full old style brush scrubber, a big soapy bucket of water and me scrubbing the stairs and floor on my hands and knees. pretty funny. They are pretty clean people over here, everything has to be perfect, not a spec of dust anywhere. we spend about 1/2 an hour just dusting the 10 photoframes and lights in the place.

I also just picked up an extra 2 mornings work there for a month or 2 which is more money for me! I get fed an awesome hot lunch each time i work there which is good, and i have befriended the old lady (Oma Fritz) that lives in the main house. She remembers my name everyweek and cooks me little handmade chocolates to devour. hopefully she isnt trying to fatten me up and then try to cook me, (hansel and gretel)

Zac has got a job too, handing out brochures for the new warren miller movie, he also gets 2 tickets i think to go see the show. stoked!

This week is ladys week, all ladies that are on holiday get a free neckwarmer and a mega discount book, free ski waxes and free food at some places. so to get these great perks i had to go into the info centre where the packages were held, lie through my teeth that i was 'on holidays for a week staying at some made up place" haha it was classic, i had to fill out some wierd form for some unknown reason, but i got it, the things we do for something free ey. haha.

zac has gone to silvretta nova (an awesome ski resort with a sick park and a bag jump) today,

hopefully he comes back with some sweet footage.

Had an epic day skiing 3 days ago, there wasnt much powder but we found some amazing untouched chutes that we skiied all day and luckily no one followed us. Zac hiked up to the top of the highest point where we were skiing and took a few photos it was scary up there as one wrong move back or forth you would fall down onto rockface. anyways here is some photos.

the night started out with me setting up the 'bar' for our night time rail session, with the pleasent company of our friends thomas annika melli and lisa it was awesome and a little bit of wine can give us a world of confidence on the rails. 2 litres of wine later we headed to scotty's for some 5 euro long island ice teas.

Jenga misteriously appeared on our table and that bought about hours of priceless entertainment, a good drinking game too.
like i have said once before Responisble service of alchol is not practiced here, a man was passed out on the bar and 7 of the bar staff were pointing and laughing at how drunk he was, then a woman was spewing and passed out in front of the burger shop, the police didnt care, walked passed us and told us not to drink so much haha. Classic.

Rodeling

Last night we went extreme tobogganing (rodelling), this is an old school toboggan with metal edges to get to the ultimate speed. The event took place down a 4km winding stretch of pre-made toboggan track, with burms and 180 degree turns, seriously GNARLY! and only accessible via the gondola.

Zac mastered the art of 'drifting' the corners after quite a few falls and ice-burn.

With only your feet to stop you when you are going mack 10 on pure ice ,this is a seriously dangerous sport. but for $8 for all that fun it was definatly worth it!

The best new years ever!

After copious amounts of alcohol consumed within a short few hours before 12 it was bound to be a recipe for a fun night, jagerbombs, 70c boxed wine, beer and a 80/20 mix of vodka pepsi in a 2 liter bottle, we made sure it was going to be a night to remember!! haha NOT!

we caught the party bus into town and started at a small but packed bar (the only bar in town with out a cover charge), in the corner of the pub was a guy just passed out on the table after and after a few moments he became the centre of attention, people were pouring beer all over him, some how Christl found butter and mushed it into his ear and hair, and pieces of bacon and weird shit appeared on him, pretty funny he didn't even move all night. i love that they don't practice RSA here, it makes drinking so much more fun and relaxed!

around 11 pretty much the whole pub headed along the road into the centre of town, and that was when the war started, the firecracker war. thousands of crackers and bungers were getting thrown at people, the girls including myself were screaming every time one came by. its so cool that you can just get your hands on this stuff so easy, a firework was set off right next to me and i remember it sparking in my face.

We arrived at the street party. so much fun!! There were hundreds of people there, which made the atmosphere even more exciting to welcome in the new year. It was super cool to celebrate with our closest friends over here tori, jezza, christl and andy plus others that made the night what it was!

I don't remember much else of the night, just a lot of fireworks, hugging, alcohol and Zac vomiting his guts up once we got home. i recorded almost everything of the night which in a way wasnt a wise idea due to the fact i looked and sounded soooo drunk, it was hilarious and horrible at the same time, ill post that up soon so you can have a laugh.

Today i had a near death experience, We were having a shit skiing day, both of us were sore and zac hurt his knee the day before. anyways all of a sudden im going out of control over ice moguls, my skis trying to get away from me, then in a split second i was hanging on for dear life over a massive drop into a flowing creek. i was stuck there, if i mo

ved the snow would give way and i would end up falling a good 10m and get stuck in a creek, i was there crying for a bit and zac was laughing his head off he even had enough time to take a photo before helping me, he then tried to do the super hero thing reaching one arm out and grabbing me, and im like "dont.....let......gooooo!!" (but it didnt work as i was too heavy) so there i was stuck on a cliff and no way out, the shit thing was was that heaps of people were skiing past and not one person offered to helped to pull me up.

in the end zacs rescue mode kicked in, and he pulled me up with his pinky finger, it was amazing, HES M

First day at work

So i finally got my ass into gear and got myself a job, cleaning 1 day a week for 6 hours and getting paid like 15 euro an hour, super good money (enough to pay for food each week which is all i need). its in this massive hotel place.

Today was my first day working there, it was so so awkward and wierd, thier cleaning over here is super wierd, they use jiff on everything even the toilets(no bleach) and all they give you is like 2 cloths and you have to use the dirty used towels from the people before to wipe down, its sooo unhiegenic, i kept thinking ewwww someone has rubbed thier privates all over this towel.

i started off talking to this lady in a bit of german i had learnt (introductions etc) and then told her i cant speak much more however she just kept on rambling in deutch now hand expressions nothing so everytime she asked me a question or something she would recieve the blankest look back from me, i had no idea what she was saying, but she checked through my bathroom and that and said it was perfect,

They provided lunch for me, i have to say it was the wierdest lunch i think i will ever have, it was fried off cabbage, and some wierd wierd soup stock thing with chunks of the dirty off cuts of beef eg the spine and shoulder (these people own the butchers). and also some apple i think and maybe onion, this other girl that works there put it in her mouth and nearly vomited hahahahaha i tried to eat it but couldnt it tasted like i was drinking fat. yuk! so we both sneakily chucked it in the bin.

anyways i dont get paid until the end of every month so that sucks but ohwell ill stick it out and see how it goes.

Zac and i have had the best christmas ever. Christmas eve was full of that christmas joy, walking down the street a brass band of 5 assembled together and was playing christmas carols to all the rooms in the hotels, everyone lent out thier windows and people gathered around them to listen to the carol

For our our christmas eve feast we joined Andi and Christl at the 'fondue train' , a restraurant in the shape of a train with all train memorabilia around the place. the fondues didnt come cheap (a good 26 euro per person) however it was the best value for money. we decided to get 2 meat and oil fondus with 6 different types of sauces, vegetables, salad and a massive wagon full of chips, so cool, we also got a cheese and bread fondu, definatly an amazing flavour to that cheese.

Once we finished dining we went to dance our bellies off at scotty's bar, while in austria it is tradition to dance on tables, so thats just what we did.
So guess what santa bought us a big f**ing hangover, cheers buddy.

today was the coldest day yet, we went to stuben which was a stupid idea as the whole place was in the shade, i rekon it was a good -20 windchill -30, i have never been so cold in my whole life, by the end of the day i was crying as my feet were about to drop off.

anyway in stuben they have these real old chairlifts with no bubbles to keep the cold out so thier solution is to put blankets out for people to wrap around them to keep their legs warm pretty cool huh. they are super stylish too.

Today was one of the best days yet. After pressing snooze on our alarm several times we finally rose out of bed around 9.30

Around 10.30am we caught the chairlift that we had been waiting on to open for 3 days now due to heavy snowfallls.., finally we reached the top and it was the coolest feeling as we were above the clouds and to our suprise we were greeted with some amazing untracked powder all to our selves and we were pretty damn happy with that!

I skied pass quite a few people today and asked myself why are people so bloody stupid. its -14degrees out, my hair face and boogers are freezing and these people are just skiing round with no beanies and some, no goggles, how stupid. i guess some people must not feel the cold but at those temperatures how can u not?? its supposed to reach a freezing -25 or something in the next few days, im definatly rugging up.

The other night Christl and Andi (rad skiier friends) took us into innsbruck to go see a ski movie premiere (pickings fam) It was super cool to be invited and to drive through all the tunnels to innsbruck, its pretty much tunnel the whole way all through mountains. We rocked up to the bar and were the only people there, it was like a ghost bar haha, finally people arrived and the movie got started around 12.30am , it was a good movie and was real cool just to get out of the resort and go to a bar that isnt full of swedish or poms, it was great to sit and watch everyone and listen to them speaking thier language.

Zac and i are so happy with our new skis, it pretty funny cause all the germans and tourists stare at zacs skis like they have never seen a fat ski before, you can see them talking about them on the gondala, today these people even wanted to take a photo of em.

Our First Week

Well what a busy week we have had! Take a look at our new video blog of our first week of living in st anton,

Before you watch ill just explain about the krampus monsters.

These monsters are the most scariest things you will ever see, i was in the street watching the parade and shaking scared, it was just really hard to think that there was real people beneath them, they looked like they came straight from hell.

These krampus parade down the street and pick out/hunt down random people and whip them or hit them with thier chosen weapon, or pick up the bad kids/teenagers and put them in the back of this trailer to be greeted by these goblin like creatures. you will see in the clip that this one girl was so scared of getting picked up she was crying! i was lucky enough to get whiped and boy it hurt!(later on my friend christl told me it was good luck)

Im not sure of the full story with the krampus but apparently they are used to scare the bad children into being good, i read that they accompany saint Nicholas, if i was a kid and saw them i would be sleeping with the lights on.

All of these masks you will see are all hand made, its all pretty cool, it was definitely the most bizarre thing i have seen!

It has dumped for 2 days now and today was our first Blue Bird Pow day! need i say more!

last night we were invited along for a night time jib with andi and christl (2 local freeskiers that rip!) They had found this junkyard with heaps of large pvc piping so we pulled them out and started sliding...

while i was taking a break this super cool cat appeared and bounced up onto me then snuggeled with us while we watched the boys jib some more, it was so cute, it was playing with snowballs as if they were yarn.

We have been going to the gym followed by a swim everyday thanks to mum buying zac and i a seasons pass there (THANKS MUMMY!!) here is a quick clip of whats inside, its got the super cool whirlpool thing and waterfalls and sunbaking chairs take a look

Toilet Humour

Last night we were invited by our two aussie friends, (Tori and Jeremy) to dinner at thier amazing penthouse.

Thier house is huge, about 4 times the size of ours and thier bathroom is massive, speaking of bathrooms thier toilet is hilarious, to explain this simply, here is an extract from a website jeremy found.

Whenever folks who have lived or traveled in Germany gather for a beer, sooner or later one subject is sure to rear its ugly head: what is the deal with those toilets?

German toilets are quite extraordinary. Other European toilets - well, the ones that aren't merely holes in the floor - work much like their North American cousins. They are shaped a little differently, but the basic principle is the same: the excrement either lands directly in the water or it slides down a steep slope into the water, before being flushed away. Simple, effective and clean. See?

"Normal" toilet

Not so the German toilet. The excrement lands on a bone-dry horizontal shelf, mere inches beneath one's posterior. Repeated flushings are required to slide the ordure off the shelf into a small water-filled hole, from which it hopefully disappears. See?

I do not understand the purpose of this toilet. It does not save water - you must flush it eight or ten times to remove every last scrape and smear. It is not hygienic - the smell is ungodly. The only conceivable explanation is that Germans love to inspect their stool, so the German toilet of necessity features a built-in stool inspection shelf. I wouldn't be surprised if the more expensive models include a digital scale: "Mein Gott, zwei kilogram!" exclaims Günter, joyful and relieved.

Further research has revealed that the German toilet is in fact designed to facilitate stool examination. This is a wise, healthy practice, argue Germans, a person's best defence against intestinal disease, water-borne parasites or worm-riddled, undercooked pork sausage. While this made perfectly good sense around 1900, thanks to improvements in public health the whole shelf business should have become obsolete shortly after World War II.

my head hurts

we started off the night with quite a few drinks in the shoebox then ventured into town to visit the winter wienachtsmarkt, (christmas markets) there wasnt much there but there was alot of gluhwine punch and schnapps stores, we met this aussie couple there that are also doing the season who live just down the road, and started off drinking a horrible shot of peach schnapps, i dont think there was much peach in it tho as it tasted like metho going down, we then tried out the punch, they came in coffee cups and was boiling hot with a hint of rum, pretty delicious! zac and i had a very very strong vodka concocotion made up in a coke bottle so we didnt have to buy many more expensive drinks ( money saving tip #1).

the concert was awesome, they were were a band with no instruments using only thier beatboxing skills to mimic the sound of them. i dont remember much of the night just a shitload of rambling some hiccups and maybe going to to toilet for a spew haha.

today we are definatly in need of some r & r, we are gonna buy our season tickets to the swimmingpool/fitness centre so will go in for some hydrotherapy. our muscles are so sore from skiing the past 2 days.

First 2 days skiing

Yesterday was the first day the resort was open so after the big snowfalls on monday there was heaps of untouched fresh! ithe mountains are so big here that they dwarf you, pretty amazing but you have got to see it to understand, i found these berries and thought i would take a photo, they looked cool.

zac was skiing and crossed a tbar track in front of some people, and this angry old austrian man got his pole and attemted to hit zac in the head,(luckily he dodged it)the man kept yelling out 'f**ing wanker!!" it was pretty intense. there was absolutly no need for it!

Today was pretty horrible weather but decided to go up anyways. i couldnt even see infront of me so we bailed pretty quickly.

We are going out tonight for a massive music show, an austrian hip hop and beatboxing thing, its held in this underground car park and should be pretty sweet, so we have got out our 6 euro vodka and 89 cent boxed wine ready to go. its gonna be a long cold walk home though, 3km i think, taxis are way too expensive here! 20 euro for 3kms, rip off!!

Hey Everyone,

Welcome back to zac and emmas new blog, this year zac and i are in st anton am arlberg in Austria. this is our second season here.
We are living in the same place as last time, a little shoebox that we will call home for the next 5 months, its got everything we need so we are happy.

let me recap you of our travels en route to austria and you can also watch a little episode of our trip down the bottom of this.

we left canberra at a sweaty 36 degrees, arrived in sydney for the night,

The next day we checked in our bags and they were 32 kgs, 2 kgs overwieght. But luckily the lady let it slide, and surprised us by saying we had been upgraded to buisness class, we were so stoked, it will probably be our only chance to ever have that happen to us! it was amazing, we were on the top floor of the plane (i always wondered what was up there) zac and i could not stop playing with the electronic seats, up and down up and down, they laid out as beds so we had a great flight and slept quite a bit.

Our first stop over was seoul in korea.
We had thought that we were going to be put up in the hyatt again like last time but we were wrong, a 30 min bus ride into town led us to our hotel. We got a free dinner so we went down for that, the lady said we were to have beef steak for dinner, but was presented with a thin oily hamburger patty straight from maccas restaurant with a bed of rice, it was discusting and couldnt eat it.

the toilet in the hotel was hilarious so many differnt buttons. Zac was having so much fun pushing all the buttons he ended up flooding the bathroom!

flight to zurich was horrible, we couldnt sleep! it sucked so bad, then just when we thought we were about to arrive they said that we had another stopover in vienna for an hour,

we finally made it to zurich at 9 o clock, with 24 hours of not sleeping under our belt our heads hit the pillows and didnt move until morning.
that morning we travelled into zurich city centre and stored our ski bags to go on a walk around the city, we didnt have enough swiss franks so this old lady just gave us 5 bucks so we could put in the locker, pretty nice of her,

zurich was fun we saw alot of cool things that we didnt see last time.

then we were off to st anton by train, we met bruno at the train station and he took us to our house then took us 10 mins down the road to go to the bakery as nothing was open in st anton. He is giving us a mobile phone soon for us to use and he also said we can borrow his internet modem as long as we pay for what we use.

its snowing here at the moment and the resort is to open on friday so we are pretty happy about that.

Today Zac and i took a few alcoholic beverages up the hill and got a little tipsy, let me tell u skiing sun and alcohol is a lethal combination, i was falling all over the place and now my face and neck is red like a lobster. we then went swimming in the heated pool up the top of squaw, the water was suprisingly warm but with the cool breeze it was freezing above the water!!

So we are leaving tahoe in 3 days, what a trip we have had! 5 months of nothing but skiing and having fun! im sad to leave this place as i was really starting to enjoy it, i really have taken this beautiful part of the world for granted, i guess you dont know what u got till you realise your leaving. we are flying from reno to LA then we have a 10 hour wait there so we have decided to take a trip to venice beach and maybe if we have time. then we fly to sydney, get in at 6 have a 3 hour wait there till our bus picks us up and takes us to canberra then mumsie picks us up and we drive another 2 hours.

I cant wait to get home and have a big bbq a juicy tbone steak potato bake and salad! zac is keen for a strawberry milk and a sausage roll.

Oh i got new ski boots for a bargain, they are sweet!!! check em out

this will prob be the last blog for a while ( unless jindabyne has some riveting things going on to write about which i doubt) we are moving into our new house in jindabyne so maybe ill show u some of that soon,

A day at Northstar

This week benny decided to give up his free passes to northstar to give to us, (super nice!) So Yesterday we went skiing down there, the weather wasnt the best, very windy and cold, but we decided to go before amy sold the car. Today was an amazing spring day, not a cloud in sight and it was steaming hot, it was the US national halfpipe finals in squaw today so we sat around and watched that, we saw back to back 10's thrown 18ft out and a few 12's, the girls sucked, a chick threw like 4 straight air grabs and an alley oop she came 3rd and this chick that fell on both her runs with a flare came 2nd.

after that it was time to hit the pool party right on top of the mountain, it was super hot but we didnt hop in, i was scared of baring my sexy pasty white body for the world to see!! haha, i cant wait to get a tan.

Tonight, mum and dad gave us a bit of money for amy, me zac and charles to go out to dinner at the buffet down in reno, we stuffed our faces till our stomachs nearly burst, so yummy! after dinner we cruised to all the different casinos including circus circus, it was pretty fun, we played all the games, zac won me a mini elephant 3 times on the 'toss the chicken in the pot' game but we traded that in for a fluffy dog, amy kicked ass on that game too, she won a 4 games, i have posted a few photoos on face book.

Sunny Spring conditions in lake tahoe this week, the snow is melting quick! we went to boreal yesterday and had a great day! learnt a new trick (switch up 270 out) and did quite a few 360's off the bigger jumps, i have finally mastered a grab with it too! we went out on monday night to cheap bowling with members of the house, monica, laura and a few other aussies. It was so much fun! and guess what! i kicked the boys ass! haha i won for once! YAY!

here is a silly edit i made of our crappy car, its a great car and gets us around to so many places, but its starting to fall apart! we have no window on the passenger side door and the door doesnt open, the cd player doesnt take cds unless u stick a pen in it, its all different colors of black and rusting up, the indicator doesnt blink, i scratched the windscreen with a metal shovel while trying to clear the ice and snow off it, wrecked it pretty good! the boot doesnt stay open so we have to use a pole to hold it up, oh and the seatbelts wont save our lives, caution, this movie does contain ALOT of swearing in the song so i would advise grandparents and parents not to look haha.

A trip to walmart

Today, Zac, Amy Charles and I went on a mission to carson city to do some shopping at wal mart, (much cheaper than tahoe city) . I had never been to carson before so i was expecting something, like an old mining town (i heard about it in all the old cowboy movies) but instead it was just a big old flat dry desert with ugly houses and a huge shopping complex, that is all, haha, well we explored walmart and had some fun. and brought lots of junk food, I LOVE SNACK PACKS!! and giant boxes of nerds. here are some photos. very riveting stuff!!

So Last night Laura W, Kane and Kye came over to cook us kanes famous napoli Gnocci! It was a bit of a show for us all, kane is quite the talented chef, he told us he has cooked for cameron diaz, oprah, owen wilson and more celebs during his time spent in vail colorado. The finished product was amazingly delicious, and to top it all off amy made us a great fruit platter and dip, with kanes added touch to the top, hahahaha

For the past few days we have driven out to donner pass, about half an hour away, the terrain is amazing! so many huge cliffs, we were in awe of the skiers and boarders dropping over 100ft cliffs and lines. Zac and i filmed charles and benny dropping a few cliffs which was super cool!

Today was pretty cold weather, zac got bored this afternoon and built this icicle fortress- pretty cool huh! haha

Road Trip!

So Yesterday we set out on a journey to the "bay area" san francisco san jose a whole heap of suburbia and her home town morgan hill, what an experience, it really makes you realise how freaking huge and over populated america is! We took the HWY 80 and i was so amazed on how many lanes there were! in some spots it was up to 7 lanes!! ahhh! you could imagine me mum, i freak out on a 2 lane highway! ha zac just had to cover my eyes, it was like bumper to bumper the whole way going 140km !

We stopped in at the dodgiest service station on the way, it had like 20 security cameras, monica got a sandwich there and on her last bite she found a dirty long hair in it! ha!

Our next stop was monicas house for the night, he parents were super cool and had the nicest house on the street, the houses reminded me of happy dayz or the brady bunch, so typically american.

Today was definatly the highlight of the trip, We travelled in to san fran, the weather was definately against us for the morning, pouring down rain and blowing a gail! Our first stop was the golden gate bridge, it was so windy that we could only be out there for a few minutes but we got to take a few photos and walk on the bridge itself which was cool, after getting sprayed by so many cars with water we decided to go to the next stop, which was pier 39 and the fishermans wharf. this place was super cool, there was big fat seals laying down everywhere! and some really great views.

San fran is definatly one of the coolest looking cities i have been to for sure! every house was a different color, and the streets are so steep! the trams are really cool, and it has a real victorian feel about it. There was a few funny homeless people, one of them had 2 bushes and was hiding behind a bin like a camoflage, and would jump out at all of the people walking by trying to scare them! and some other guy was playin the violin but the strings were all retarded. pretty funny,

As we were only there for a day we didnt get to take the ferry out to alcatraz but it is on the cards for next time!

It was time to go home and it was a fast trip untill it started snowing and we got stuck in traffic for like an hour!

Its now 11.30pm and its Dumping snow back here in Tahoe! anyways stay tuned! thanks for reading a whole lot of blabber!

Feb 26th- BORED!!

The weather this week has been so shitty that i havent really been motivated to ski its been windy and raining but snowing up top, so i have pretty much parked my bum on this beautiful couch of ours and not moved for like 100 hours haha. i have been watching marathons of house law and order and CSI! haha.and sitting on the internet dreaming of luxury holidays, really amazing. me and zac were thinking of going to las vegas to kill the boredom however it was quite an expensive last minute air flight so decided against it, we will go towards the end of the season.

Anyway today amy chaz benny zac and i decided to take a trip to reno for a grocery shop, riveting stuff. We went for a bit of clothes shop and i couldnt resist to buy this great little scarf and a cute headband, oh and i finally finished knitting this blue beanie too. blue is definatly my favourite colour

We stopped off at this amazing hunting store called cabelas, so cool, there was so many taxidermed animals in there, there was wolves elephants rhinos leopards bears moose every deer out there and so much more. Here are some photos.

Dew Tour

Yesterday zac and i went to go watch russ compete in the dew tour. To get to the course we had to catch a gondola, however because we are too poor to afford a $15 gondola pass we decided to walk up, it was a pretty big effort. but we made it in the end. we set ourselves up with a few drinks. After that, Common (for those who dont know, a really good hip hop artist) was playing in the village on the ice rink, it was pretty cool and a massive crowd.

So this morning i wake up and i here this dog crying and yelping next door in this backyard (in the snow!) of this house that has been deserted all season, so i figured that it must have jumped in there and got stuck, so i dug the gate out and helped this golden labrador out and brought it into our house, i gave it food and water, it must have drank about 4 litres worth it was so dehydrated, it was so sad, then i went walking out on the streets with this dog trying to ask around with the neighbors and stuff but no one could recognize it. the dogs feet were so cold from standing out in the snow all night and day that it couldn't walk anymore, so i took it inside and took some photos of it and did the rounds again, finally some old blokes said that "oh thats Toothless Taylors dog!" "he's homeless i think he's squatting in that bin over there" so he went to check but he wasnt there, he then went on to say that " oh actually i think he outstayed his welcome there, he might be in the house thats being remodeled (the house that i found the dog at!) so i just took the dog back left him on the front porch and went back home, every time i look out at the window i see these poor little puppy dog eyes saying TAKE ME!!, i feel really bad that dog has to live in those conditions. i just feel like calling up the RSPCA but if i do no one will take an old dog like that,and he will probably get put down. i don;t know what to do. any suggestions?

I was filming a bit today and was about to film zac drop this big cornice and ski some steep stuff, then along came this snowboarder, and all i could see was this snow cracking and there it was he had set off a minor slide, but guess who was standing smack bang in the middle of it!!! ME !!! ahh, it smashed past my knees and knocked me off my feet, i tried to warn zac not to go down there again (as he couldnt see) but he couldnt hear meand skied another part of it to the left slid again! lucky it was only small and he skied straight out. Some guy next door was speaking to laura today and couldn't understand her, he says, "sorry i don't speak the english, i only speak american", what an idiot!! slowly getting sick of how stupid and naive some americans are... haha thats my whinge for the night! So we have pretty much had consistent snowfalls for the past 2 weeks now, its been amazing, here is just a little bit of footage shot over these 2 weeks. Kinda bad quality cause i had to shrink it. Im in the green zacs in the red, and lauras in the purple.

Snow Snow and More Snow

It has been dumping snow here for the past week now, we have so much! tonight is supposed to be the big one, 2-3ft apparently. We woke up around 6 this morning to guarantee some fresh stuff before the punters got in. Its a public holiday today (presidents day) and also "california ski week" so its super ridiculously busy, After lining up in a huge gondola line we managed to push our way to the 3rd gondola, we hopped in and just my luck, someone had farted, it was disgusting. way to start off the day but we got quite a few good fresh runs. Here are some photos of the snow.

Harlem Globetrotters

A few weeks ago Zac and I went to go to see the harlem globetrotters, a trick basketball team, in Reno, NV. It was awesome!

We had our first American Hotdog and Giant Cola, except some fat lady sitting next to us knocked zacs all over the floor! didnt even say sorry! I made a quick little movie of what we saw.

Well here it is, my first blog, i've published this so all my family and friends can keep up to date on all the things i have been doing. Last week we decided to do something different from skiing, so we went Extreme tobogganing! it was a very painful experience, i hit my head pretty hard on our first few hits and laura hurt her wrist. Amy donated us a mini kids snow board from squaw kids, so we had a play around on that! as you will see we were killing it! haha, enjoy the footage.
